Moody Babies don't like to "Nite"

My littlest, Violet, has been sick lately. It started with fever and diarrhea and has since morphed into a nasty little cold. Needless to say, she been very crabby. And to add insult to injury she hasn't been napping.

Last night at dinner time was tough. She was very tired and crabby and was prone to crying at anything. After ten minutes trying to decide what she wanted for dinner ("Mac & cheese?" "NO, THAT!!" "Chicken?" "NO, THAT!! *sob, tears, snot* "Potatoes?" "Yuhuh..sniff..sniff") Violet was finally sitting quiet and eating. Jasmine and her friend were getting their dinner so I quietly walked up behind them and whispered:

"Ok, nobody talk to or look at the baby. She is very tired and sick and is finally sitting still. I just want her to eat her dinner so she can go to bed."

I'm such an idiot.

"NOOOO! NO NITE! I DON'T WANNA NITE NOO NOOO!" I'm pretty sure the sobbing and screaming could be heard across town. "I DONE! NO NITE!!" More sobbing as the plate get thrown to the floor.

"Ok Violy, you don't have to. Calm down, calm down." I tried to soothe, but it was all over.

That, my friends, was a rookie mistake.

Having 3 kids, it doesn't sound like you're a rookie... sounds like you're a bit exhausted too, after dealing with all that.

Hope she's feeling better soon ~ it seems to be going around.

M- I'm not a rookie, that's why I'm so stupid! I was so worried about the kids upsetting her, I didn't watch what I was saying. Thnx for the well wishes!

Erin- I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I almost feel a little guilty being relieved when they go to bed. Almost.

Oz- I saw on your blog you were not getting much sleep. Come on over, we'll split the shifts!

That's what you get for letting her move in with you! As you can tell, Violy is not much better today. I think the staff at Pizza Hut is glad I took her out!

Hello,
Marianna linked us to you and your craft blog. Great work! That birthday invite was a lot of work but so fresh and delightful. I bet all the little girls loved it!

This was a great snippet for a rookie mom to read. LOL My girlfriend Claire is 36 weeks with her 5th and hopefully this time it will be a girl. She kinda freaked, when she found out, "But I don't know how to do hair"!!!!!!
Man, I never laughed so hard at that one.
And the conversations with Lila was supreme. That is amazing how they can be so different about the things we grew up with?!?

I enjoyed peaking in to your life. It's so different from mine.
I always wanted 6 kids. Just didn't work out that way. So now we have 6 pets!
Anyway, thanks for letting me visit and comment. Hope Little Miss Violet is feeling better, poor pumpkin.
Pop over to my place for a chat if you get a chance.
